Mayan

Horticulturist, plant nerd, avid swimmer

Mayan entered the farming community through a passion for local food systems, starting with just a couple of kale seeds and some patio pots. She soon wanted to learn more and completed the intensive Horticulture Training program at UBC in 2015. This course provided a plethora of hands on and technical training in all aspects of horticulture and since then her life has revolved around her green thumb. In 2017 Mayan started Flowerface, a multi-site urban flower farm, which for three seasons supplied hyperlocal blooms for florists and a CSA program in Vancouver.

Mayan moved to Victoria in 2021 with the hopes of finding land to farm. Flowerface, the Saanich edition, is the culmination of years’ worth of learning, growing, planning and dreaming.

Brian & Jane

Landowners, horticulturalists, animal lovers

Brian and Jane have been lovingly tending the field for the past 18 years. Over the years they have enriched the soil, planted flowering perennials, grown plants from seeds and cuttings and kept a bountiful veggie patch. They live on the land with their dog, Echo, cat, Taz and friendly Kunekune pig, Acer.
